Managing hospital operations

The highest priority for everyone at Universitätsklinikum Erlangen is to provide the best possible patient care. As a hospital providing supermaximal care, it is imperative that we plan, organize and calculate operations within our hospital to ensure that patients benefit from the best possible care at all times. Management and administrative staff are responsible for ensuring the smooth running of operations to allow our medical and nursing staff across all of our 106 different organizational units to provide ideal patient care. They work in the background to create the necessary structures and regulate the necessary processes and procedures. The challenges they face are many and varied.

They provide advice and coordinate with specialists from across the whole of our university hospital.

The hospital administration is responsible for commercial matters relating to Uniklinikum Erlangen such as controlling, purchasing or employing staff. Staff in our specialist departments, clinical administrative departments or strategic departments are experts in various subject areas and contribute their expertise to the commercial management of Uniklinikum Erlangen.

There are also many tasks that fall under the heading of administration and management in our clinics, independent departments, institutes and interdisciplinary centers. These are as varied and diverse as our 106 organizational units themselves. The spectrum of their tasks ranges from organizing clinical areas to documenting medical services to traditional tasks in doctors’ secretary’s offices.
