Whether you come from Forchheim, Fürth or Nuremberg, Erlangen is located very conveniently at the A3 and the A73, and is easy to reach by car or public transport. It only takes a few minutes to walk to the hospital from the train station, or you can take one of the free hospital shuttle buses.

By train
The central station at Nuremberg is one of Germany’s most important railway intersections. It provides express train connections to all European cities every hour. From Nuremberg to Erlangen it takes you 20 minutes by regional train. The university hospital is situated within walking distance of the station. Use the train schedule from Deutsche Bahn to get to us.
By bus
Use Plan your Journey from VGN to find the connection to get you to your appointment. For Internistisches Zentrum take bus line 290 to “Kliniken/Maximiliansplatz”. For our facilities in Universitätsstraße, Glückstraße and Waldstraße take bus line 289 or bus line 293 to “Krankenhausstraße”.
Use the free hospital shuttle bus
All the buses of line 299 – known as the “clinic line” – take you from Erlangen central bus station to Uniklinikum Erlangen. These wheelchair accessible mini buses leave every 10 minutes from Erlangen central bus station just west of Erlangen main station and can be used free of charge. They pass, among others, the stops “Kliniken/Maximiliansplatz” and “Östliche Stadtmauerstraße”. More details on the free hospital shuttle bus 299.
Leave the A 73 (highway Nuremberg-Bamberg) at the exit “Erlangen-Nord” and then follow the signs for “Unikliniken”. Alternatively, leave the A73 (highway Bamberg-Nuremberg) at the exit “Erlangen-Zentrum” and follow the signs for “Unikliniken”.
Please note that if you approach from the east, access to the Surgical Center (outpatient clinics), the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, and the Department of Neurology is only allowed via the Hindenburgstraße–Neue Straße (towards the city center) in the case of emergency. Coming from the city center, you can drive through Neue Straße to Maximiliansplatz.
Short-term parking is available in front of the entrance to the clinics. You can leave your car for several days or weeks in the Unikliniken parking garage with 380 parking spaces, access via the Palmsanlage.
You may also park your car on the large car park („Großparkplatz“) right next to Erlangen main station and Erlangen central bus station and take the free KlinikLinie, a taxi or a 10 minute walk to our facilities.
Please note that the Unikliniken car park (Schwabachanlage 14) cannot be reached directly via the Department of Neurology. Please follow the signs “Parkhaus Unikliniken” via Neue Straße, Maximiliansplatz, Hindenburgstraße and Palmsanlage. A footpath leads to the Department of Neurology (250m).
