Who we are:
Our Clinic is one of the leading Centres for translational research in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Our multidisciplinary team of biologists, data scientists, and physicians works closely together on current challenges in optimizing the treatment of patients with IBD. Recently, our Clinic, in cooperation with the Third and Fifth Department of Medicine, provided a milestone in a novel treatment approach of patients with IBD by applying B cell depletion via CD19 CAR T cell application. This led to fast, long-lasting clinical remission. However, the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms are unknown. The doctoral candidate will unravel these mechanisms using advanced techniques.
The position is embedded into the IZKF (interdisciplinary center for clinical research) program thereby offering a structured training.
We are seeking for a motivated scientist (m/f/d) to join our lab team.
Your tasks:
- Isolation and culture of primary cells (blood and tissue) from patients with IBD
- Flow cytometry
- B cell receptor repertoire sequencing
- Immunohistochemistry
- Communication of research strategies and data to the team and the international scientific community
Comments:
- Cover letter stating your motivation
- Brief summary of your practical skills and research experience
- Curriculum vitae
- University diplomas including transcripts of records
- Contact details for two academic references, who agreeed to be contacted during the selection process
- Letters of recommendation
Essential experience/qualifications:
- Master's degree (or equivalent), preferably in biochemistry or a related field (molecular biology, cell biology, immunology)
- Strong interest in immunological research
- Analytical thinking and the ability to work independently
- High level of motivation and commitment
- Excellent written and spoken English
