Das sind wir:
This position will be located in the study group of Musculoskeletal Function and Mechanobiology. Research in this study group focuses on the role of musculoskeletal function in patient cohorts and healthy individuals. We have a special interest in the role of immobility for musculoskeletal health which we investigate in space flight related studies and collaborate closely with national and international partners in academics and industry with various background disciplines.
Your tasks:
Topic: The project will focus on investigating the interaction of different musculoskeletal tissues in the response to immobilization. The PhD student will develop methods for an integrative data analysis of to be acquired and existing data sets. Furthermore, a close collaboration with international colleagues from the fields of biomechanical modelling and exercise physiology is foreseen. The main focus will be on ESA bed rest core data, dry-immersion studies and astronaut data all collected in studies funded by the European Space Agency and the German Aerospace Centre.
Essential experience/ qualifications:
- Highly motivated, creative doctoral candidate capable of working in an interdisciplinary team
- Above-average master or comparable university qualification in medical engineering, sport/movement science, kinesiology, physiology, sports technology, life sciences, space life sciences or similar fields with a strong interest in biostatistics
- Strong knowledge of human movement & physiology, musculoskeletal function and biostatistics
Additionally beneficial are:
- Interest in space life sciences
- English language skills should allow for barrier free written and oral communication in english with international partners.
